Free vs Pro

Systemic offers Quick (free) and Pro modes. Both give you full access to map creation, expansion, auto-formatting, differentiated connections, and AI reasoning. Pro adds live web research, citations, and the ability to upload your own sources.

Quick Mode

Quick mode includes all core functionality and is free to use:

  • Create Maps: Generate systems maps from any topic

  • Expand Systems: Add depth with AI-powered expansion

  • Auto-Format: Reorganise layouts automatically

  • Update Summaries: Refresh card content based on current map state

Quick mode produces maps quickly using fast AI generation. Maps include differentiated connections (colour-coded by polarity, thickness by strength) and AI reasoning for each node.

Knowledge cutoff: Quick mode has a knowledge cutoff of January 1, 2025. Information published after this date won't be incorporated into generated maps or summaries.

Both Modes

Differentiated Connections

Both Quick and Pro maps visually encode two dimensions of each relationship. Toggle this on or off using the Differentiate connections checkbox in the app panel.

Colour-coding shows the nature of each relationship:

  • Red connectors: Reinforcing relationships (A increases → B increases)

  • Blue connectors: Balancing relationships (A increases → B decreases)

Connector thickness indicates relationship strength:

  • Thin (1px): Weak or indirect influence

  • Regular (2px): Moderate, notable but not dominant

  • Thick (3px): Strong, major driver of change

  • Heaviest (4px): Critical, system-defining relationship

Together, colour and thickness give you a visual map of which relationships matter most and how they interact.

AI Reasoning

Every node includes the AI's reasoning for why it exists in your map. This explains the logic behind connections and helps you evaluate whether the AI's analysis makes sense for your context. Click any node to view its reasoning. In Pro mode, reasoning is accompanied by source citations.

Pro Features

Live Web Research

Pro mode searches the web for real sources before building your map, producing results grounded in actual citations rather than AI training data alone. This takes longer than Quick mode but gives you verifiable, up-to-date maps.

Why this matters:

  • No knowledge cutoff: Pro maps include information published after January 2025 that Quick mode can't access

  • Better for niche topics: Specialised or emerging subjects that AI training data covers poorly benefit from live research with current sources

  • Better for specialised domains: Topics not well-covered in general AI knowledge get significantly richer maps

AI Citations

Every Pro node is backed by source references. Citations let you:

  • Verify relationships: See what sources support each connection

  • Go deeper: Use citations as jumping-off points for your own research

  • Assess reliability: Understand how well-supported each part of the map is

How to access: Click any Pro node to see its citations and AI reasoning. A Citations Card is also added to the board with all sources.

Upload Your Own Sources

Pro mode lets you provide your own source material — URLs and PDFs — for both map generation and expansion. Add up to 5 sources, and the AI will incorporate them into your map alongside (or instead of) web research.

Use the Include web research toggle to control whether the AI also searches the web in addition to your sources.

50,000 Character Limit

Pro mode accepts prompts up to 50,000 characters (vs 2,000 for Quick). This lets you:

  • Paste in full documents, articles, or reports for analysis

  • Provide extensive background context

  • Describe complex multi-faceted systems in detail

Monthly Pro Actions

Pro includes 100 actions per month — each map generation or expansion counts as one action. Your usage resets on the 1st of each month. A usage indicator in the app panel shows your remaining actions.

If you reach your limit, you can continue using Quick mode for the rest of the month with no restrictions. Need more than 100 actions? Contact us at bowen@emergents.ioenvelope.

Upgrading to Pro

To switch to Pro:

  1. Open Systemic in any Miro board

  2. Click Pro in the mode toggle at the top of the app panel

  3. Follow the upgrade prompt

Pro is €10/month at our Early Supporter price. Payment is handled securely via Stripe.

Managing Your Subscription

You can manage your subscription at any time through the Stripe customer portalarrow-up-right. From there you can:

  • Update your payment method

  • View your invoice history

  • Cancel your subscription

If you cancel, you'll keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period. After that you can continue to use the free features.
